Mac Donald, MA, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), my approach centers on creating a safe, compassionate space where youth and families feel seen, heard, and supported. I draw from a person-centered, strengths-based perspective and integrate solution-focused strategies to help clients navigate challenges, process difficult emotions, and move toward meaningful, lasting change. Whether we're exploring painful experiences or identifying personal strengths, my goal is always to support healing, resilience, and a deeper sense of purpose.
I earned a Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from George Fox University, as well as a Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Colorado. My clinical experience includes a year-long internship and continued work at Yamhill County Family and Youth in McMinnville, Oregon, as well as current practice at Fir Counseling in Portland. I work with individuals and families navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, grief, and more, and I lead a weekly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group for middle school boys.
In addition to my formal education, I’ve received advanced training in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems), Play Therapy, crisis intervention, risk assessment, and family systems therapy. These tools allow me to take an integrative, personalized approach to therapy that respects each client’s unique story, needs, and goals.
Outside of my work, I enjoy hiking with my dog, Hank, running, reading, playing pickleball, and practicing piano.
