Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
Supervisor: Susan Shimokaji, MBA, MAT, MA, LMFT
Who I Work With: My practice serves adolescents, young adults, and adults (ages 13–65+), couples, families, and groups.
Availability: Winona is accepting clients at our Portland location and through Telehealth Services.
My journey to becoming a therapist began through both my life experiences and my years as a registered nurse, where I saw how closely our emotional, physical, and relational health are connected. Today, I feel honored to support adolescents, adults, couples, and families as they strengthen relationships, navigate life's challenges, and experience meaningful growth.
My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and collaborative. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to build on their strengths. Together, we'll explore patterns that may no longer be serving you and work toward greater connection, resilience, and wellbeing.
I work with clients experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, stress, and self-esteem issues. I also specialize in supporting female adolescents through puberty, identity development, confidence, and sexual health, and I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help couples strengthen communication and deepen emotional connection. I also support individuals and families navigating caregiving, end-of-life experiences, and grief.
As both a Marriage and Family Therapist and a registered nurse, I bring a unique perspective that integrates emotional, relational, and physical health. My hope is to provide a welcoming space where you feel supported, connected, and empowered to move toward lasting healing and growth.
